Carol Stewart lives and works in St. Louis, Missouri

Carol completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Queen’s University, Canada, in 1981. She has painted continuously since then, exploring garden, interior and still life themes.

"I always paint from life. My work is about my sense of place. The changes in light and color over time and the spirit of where I am are not things I can find in photographs. For me there is more of interest in the physical world than I can invent. The sudden play of light on a surface and the interaction of colors and patterns are what interest me. These are absorbed over time and then expressed in my paintings. I feel that I create pieces of beauty and interest that express my fascination with the world around me."

Carol Stewart is represented by galleries in Toronto and Chicago. She is currently pursing a Master of Fine Arts degree. Her paintings, spanning a period of more than 25 years, can be found in private and corporate collections in Canada, the UK and the United States. Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University Center for Advanced Medicine and Washington University School of Medicine display recent works by Carol Stewart.
